Complaint:
Not that Sears Credit is doing anything illegal, but just so everyone
knows, they will not work with any debt consolidation agency. They
practically tried to force me into bankruptcy.
And even though my finances are better and I pay every month again,
they've raised my interests rate to an astonishing 26.46%. Every
month all I can do is pay the interest. Don't suggest loans, my
credit is too bad.
If the government wants to stimulate the economy then reign
they should reign in these theives!!!! |

I have a complaint about "Citi Cards", who apparently own the Sears credit
cards. I was past due one month on my payment to my sears card. They sent
me a notice saying I had 15 days to resolve that.
First of all, the letter was dated 9 days before I actually received it,
leaving me 4 days to get a payment to them. The postmark was 5 days
earlier, from Ohio. Now what I want to know is why it takes them 9 days to
get the notice to me, from 2 states away?!? It took them 4 days just to get
it to the post office.
Secondly, they claimed that I had "not cooperated" with them. Not
cooperated? This was my first notice! I didn't have a chance to cooperate
with them before!
On top of all this, though I was past due, they continue to send me junk
mail offering me Citi credit cards. I guess they like people who are a high
credit risk. I am going to get rid of this card as soon as possible and I
don't recommend getting involved with them. As another person pointed out,
Sears does call at every hour of the day, for days on end when you are one
day late paying them. |

Sears & CitiCard have been reporting my dad's chapter 7 bankruptcy on my
credit report for the past 6 years.
The account was opened 1n 1995 when i was 14, which i was unknowingly listed
as an authorized user. I have an older sister and am not sure if she was
also an authorized user, because she has NEVER been effected by this. And
dont know why my dad would list me and not her. I never signed anything and
never used the card ONCE.
He filed BK in 1998, i was 17.
March of 1999 i turned 18. No more than 6 months after becoming of age Sears
& CitiCard began reporting the BK debt on my credit 1 year after the filing.
First i tried calling Sears to get information about the account. I was
always told it could not be given to me without my dad authorizing. I sent
sears a letter and still have copies of it as well as all attempts trying to
fix my credit in the past. I never got return mail or any response from the
company.
I could never get my credit reports from any of the 3 companies. Not
matching their identity records. Not being able to get my reports because i
did not have utility bills, a lease or w-2 form with all my identity and
address verification. Not wanting them to go to my dad's house, that was te
only place they could be sent. I am aware of my dad opening my mail, and im
sure he has witheld my mail at some point. Although it is his debt, for some
reason he wont call the companies and tell them it is not my debt and take
me off as an authorized user. In fact, there are many events that lead me to
beleive he has done something illegal. When i tried to change my address
from his house, he called me and threw a HISSY FIT about it. Going and
changing my address back to his house himself. Why was it such a big deal?
And was way over reacting for some reason. He has always had the excuse that
he needs my credit reports to do something. He doesnt need my credit reports
to call HIS cred!

Not having the time and resources and not wanting to get my dad in trouble,
i figured he would fix it or the mistake would be seen and corrected. Every
now and then i would apply for credit which i was turned down. When trying
to order my reports, i didnt match identity records.
Finally, in July 2004, my dad hands me my mail which he had opened. Saying
he did it by mistake. He handed me a consumer report from TransUnion telling
me i was part of a lawsuit and i needed to sign it to be returned for
investigation. Which didnt make any sense. I signed it happy that finally
something was going to be done. But it wasnt to investigate the bankruptcy.
It was for promotional inquiries made by 20th Century Insurance. I was at
his house again 5 months later while he was out of town. Looking through the
pile of mail he has set aside for my sister and i, i discovered the report
still sitting there. HE NEVER TURNED IT IN. WHY, i dont know. But it
furiated me and made up my mind that for some reason, he doesnt want me or
anyone else knowing information and investigating. I have been suffering for
the past 6 years because of his bankruptcy while he is spending thousands at
Mardi Gras the past 8 years. I dont feel sorry for him anymore. I made a
copy of the report !
and have spent the past 3 months researching everything i possibly can.
Calling these companies on numerous occasions and trying to get information
about the account. Which i still cant have without my dad's authorization
even though they report a bankruptcy debt on my credit. I CANT BELEIVE IT!
It is the biggest crock i heard in a long time. And i cant even be sure if
he called them and told them not to disclose information to me. I am an
authorized user, authorized to use the card in which they are reporting a
bankruptcy debt that is not mine and they tell me i need my dad to authorize
release of account information.
Turns out the 20th Century inquiries on my credit was not for me. Which
brings another problem with my credit merging my identity with someone else.
The inquireis went on for over a year, and i would have never known or
thought about it. Before i had recieved the consumer report in July, i was
mistakenly sent a warrant for my arrest. It was a mistake. When i called to
fix it, i found out an Arizona resident has the same name as i do. Our first
and last names are the same. Our middle name is the same, but spelled
different. But applications only ask for middle initial. The warrant was for
a DUI in 2/1997 So. California. I was 15 about to turn 16 the following
month, so it was not me. Guess she stopped paying her fine and so they
issued her a warrant. Somehow getting her mixed with me. I dont know how,
because she was born in 1956 and i in 1981. She had Arizona address and DL#
which was not the same as mine. So, how could we get mixed up? Well, the
warrant was fixed, and you !
would think that there was no problems. MINOR HUMAN ERROR, RIGHT? NO BIG
DEAL, RIGHT? WRONG!
I noticed the address of 20th Century, which was in So. Cal. I called them
and they had a policy for this woman. Needing insurance for her court date.
It doesnt make sense that years later they are promoting offers to her and
they are all of a sudden ending up on my credit.
And how are the inquiries ending up on MY credit when they are using HER
information? It went on for over a year, and NO ONE can tell me how it has
happened. Insurance does not get your SSN so if they are typing in her
first, last and MI, they are pulling my credit i suppose. I dont know. And
still dont see how that is possible. NOTHING MAKES SENSE.
Tired of struggling and researching and investigating, i am filing
complaints and voicing my experiences to others. I know it all doesnt have
to do with credit cards, but think it wise to disclose credit report
problems as well. I never knew things could get such a mess. And it was done
as easy as hitting a button, misspelling a name or not verifying someone's
identity. But fixing it has been HELL. Costing much time and some $$. Mostly
frustration and anger.
Although authorized users are not responsible for any debts, credit
companies can report debts on authorized user's credit assuming they will
pay to keep their credit clean. There are no laws, but have been few law
suits, which if more people did, something might actually be done.
The fact that they are holding a child, who was a minor, responsible for a
parents' debt is outrageous. Although the bankruptcy was filed while i was a
minor, as soon as i became of age, they began reporting a debt that is not
mine as a way to get their money is UNPROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT. Then to tell
me that i cant be told information of the debt in they are reporting on my
credit which has been nagatively effecting my life since i was 18....it is
all BULL and in TOTAL VIOLATION of my rights and federal/state laws. It is
unethical. I am in total shock and am speechless. There are no words for how
SCREWED that is.
I have been beating myself up for the past 3 months. I am stuck, unsure of
anything going on with my credit. I am done with all of this, and i am ready
to file complaints and claims. Not sure if i need a lawyer, i am looking for
one to represent me individually or at last resort class action suits. I am
aware that the state or government might act on my behalf. I just want to be
prepaired and to know what i am getting into.
I deserve to have a chance that was taken from me as soon as i got it. I am
not going to hurt, struggle or suffer anymore.
People deserve to lose their jobs. Or maybe they should let me HAVE their
house and cars and they can live in a tent by the river, then tell me their
MINOR human error is NO BIG DEAL. I WANT ACTION. I WANT ANSWERS. AND I WANT
COMPENSATION AND A CHANCE AT THE LIFE I COULD HAVE HAD 6 YEARS AGO! |

Sears is the BIGGEST RIP OFF on credit cards.
DO NOT charge on your Sears Credit Card if you want to keep your sanity. My
advice would be to cut up the credit card and NEVER, EVER buy anything from
Sears again. Sears SUCKS!!!
I had bought a Kenmore refrigerator and stove from Sears with a year
deferrment. Right before my payments were to start Sears upped my interest
rate to 26 1/2%. Let's put it this way my loan was $1,800 a year ago and it
is now $1,900. I have charged nothing on this card. The interest is a
killer. The minimum due is $14. I pay them $50 a month and only a whopping
$9.00 goes for what I actually owe. The rest is eaten up my their rip off
interest rates. If you pay $75 a month, get this your next statement will
say you owe nothing for the month. What a Joke - what happens is everything
goes for interest. Rip off, Rip off, Rip off.
They absolutely refuse to negotiate - interest rates are non-negotiable. I
come from a family who, for generations, has bought Kenmore appliances
including myself. NEVER AGAIN IN A MILLION YEARS will I buy anything from
Sears. Take my advice DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SEARS!!!!! It's time the
consumer starts taking action against this credit card companies who are
charging us any kind of fee they can, late fees, over the limit fees, under
the limit fees, around the block late fees, the sun didn't shine today fees
- any kind of fee they can possibly find. Not to mention the way they note
in small print on your statement that if the payment is not made by a
certain time of day you will acquire a nice fat late payment fee. I also
like that fact that if you try to pay by phone you are charged anywhere from
$4.00 to $15.00.
We, as consumers, have got to stop this credit card mafia!!! Do not charge
anything anywhere unless you can pay it off immediately. Don't let these
companies screw us out of our hard earned money anymore. Let's but the
credit card companies where they belong - OUT OF BUSINESS!!!
Write your congressmen, write the Consumer Protection Agency. Let's get the
ball out of the credit card companies court and fight back. I for one have
had enough of this credit card rip off hell!!! |

In Oct. 04 I was called by Citi Card to set up an automatic payment on my
Sears MC and I did, the payment should have come out on the 28th of Nov. 04
went it did not on 12/02/04 I sent in an electronic payment. When it
happened again in Dec 04 I sent in another electronic payment on the 28th
both payments were electronic and both have been credited tomy account with
in a decent time frame. I called Citi Card and Sears and found they had
written a wrong number for my account I cancelled the automatic and went to
an electronic pay through my bank. During the time period that this was
going on I was never charged for a returned check or a late fee on my
statement from Sears nor was I notified that any of this took place.
In May 05 I expected to see my interest rate drop because of a six month
review period which should have taken place in Apr. I called thier help line
explained what happened the person on the other end accused me of giving
them the wrong numberon my bank account. I after much angered explaination
of exactly what took place I asked to speak to a supervisor I gave them my
home phone number and was told I would be contacted in 24 hrs. This never
happened.
When I wasn't contacted by a Sears service manager I felt well things will
change in June and waited for my statement again the interest rate did not
change I called again and did talk to a service rep and manager they were
both very helpful but again nothing was done but I found out that in July my
interest rate will be dropped to the lower rate and the manager said she
would have someone look at my complaint and send me a letter.
I received the letter yesterday 06/20/05 and it asked me for more
informationand asked me to call their toll free number again and speak to a
rep.The rep could and would not help me and gave me to service manager Jermy
who would not listen to or take a look at my problem he would only give me
pat answers and tell me your accounrt interest has been lowered.
Here is what I have found out so far Sears MC states that because the two
checks were returned that my six month period for review did not start ubtil
Jan. 05 and they have done a six month review and have completed it in the
proper time frame. They also raised my rates to the highest allowable by law
when that second check was returned.
It is my contioned that Sears Mc was complacent in thier actions by never
notifying me of the returned checks and aware of the error made by thier
agent (Citi Card) by never charging me a late or a returned check fee. and
my six month period should have started in Nov. they owe me the interest
overcharge for May and June 05 and any interest penalties charge for their
agents errors.
The only Question I have is where do I go with this now? |

Complaint: I am a long time Sears customer...every appliance in my home is
from Sears. However, I no longer will buy anything from them. I called for
a payoff on my account (which has always been in good standing) and recieved
it. I sent it in that day...they held the payment for a week...and posted
it 10 days after I mailed it. I know that the US Postal Service has a 2-day
delivery mandate on first-class mail. The hold put it past the due date by
one day. When I recieved my next billing...instead of a zero balance...they
had charged me 360.00 finance/late fees. I argued for 2 days with them on
this...went up as high as I could...to no avail...so I told them on the
phone that I wanted to pay their fraudulent fees right over the phone. They
charge me 10.00 to do it. Now...just got the new bill...and it has a 6.50
charge on it for some obscure finance charge. I hit the ceiling and called
again and yelled long enough for them to remove it. Bottom-line...I believe
the!
y are crossing the line and making a concerted effort to bilk customers out
of money with shady finance charges. BEWARE!! |

I received a threatening telephone call at my work phone from a "Mr.
Robertson" who said he represented Citicard. He told me I had not made a
payment on my account for 4 months, and the balance was something like
$1,000. Strange thing, I was online right at that moment with Citicard, and
my balance was NOT $1,000, and I had just made a payment a few days ago, so
I said he must be mistaken. The caller said he knew my social security
number, and asked for something I never heard of EVER: the last 5 digits,
not last 4! I got suspicious and asked more info from him. Mr Robertson
blubbered a bit then said, "Well, this is not about Citicard, but about
Sears." Then he got very threatening, when I asked him if he worked for
Sear or Citicard. He finally said, "Sears". After all, he knew I was
online with Citicard at the moment. Then I asked him about purchases I made
and he started to say that was not my business, just pay up. I asked him
his phone number and he refused t!
o give it. I asked what city he worked in and he refused to give it. The
more I asked him the more suspicious I got. Then I checked out *xxx
online. OH MY GOD! What garbage! I clicked on a link which led to a pop
up labeled Your Security Is Our and said "Sears Security" at the top. At
the bottom of that pop-up it stated, "How to Protect Yourself Online." I
checked out the three links at the bottom of the page. AMAZING! Two of the
three were fraudulent! The URLs listed do not call up any page at
all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sears definitely is a fraud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our family has been a reliable shopper at Sears. Credit score over 730,
spend about $5K per year at Sears excluding special purchases (larger items
like appliances, eyewear, tires, etc.) for a total of about $7K to $8K per
year. Unlike some of the concerns posted here, we've been very happy with
the merchandise (Lands End for us, good kids clothes, good tools, etc.)
Having eliminated all of our credit card debt and paying off vehicles and
the farm tractor this year, I contacted Sears regarding the absurd 24.5%
rate. My other merchant cards are either under 15% or cut up. I did not
bother until the account was brought to zero (actually a credit balance as
it was overpaid by $35). I'm buying a large freezer this month for the wife
to start storing veggies from the garden, and also need a new fridge for the
addition.
The representative I spoke with indicated Sears "will not lower any rates at
this time." Quite a surprise for a customer who's never been late on a
single payment and has an excellent credit score. As a business manager, I
believe in letting bad vendors suffer the consequence of their actions.
Vendors that are incapable of recognizing their best customers are destined
to fail, and Sears most certainly appears to be on that path. 24.5% is a
"pawn shop" rate and inappropriate for any mid-700 credit score (I handle
the merchant processing account with First National Bank of Omaha for the
company).
So I'm looking for a new vendor for my family's merchandising needs. Looks
like Nebraska Furniture Mart and another clothing company are on the
shopping list. Any vendor that ignores their bread and butter is not long
for the world in this competitive marketplace. Goodbye Sears! |

I have had a sears credit card for several years. I used it only
occasionally and never had too many problems with them. However this summer
(05) I recieved their change of terms. Have you all read them? What is this
now - indentured slavery if you can't pay? I have excellent credit and only
had about $50 on the card. With the new bankruptcy law signed I personally
feel the new terms remove all protection for the credit card user. I doubt I
would ever be affected but I think of many others who inadvertantly suffer
some medical or loss of job or other situation - they will be forever at
Sears mercy. I figured I would be a good citizen and instead of just blindly
agreeing, send in a letter questioning the new terms.
I never got a response but did get my next statement as though everything
was ok. (I figured that they wouldn't let me charge on the card so I
didn't). When I got the statement I paid the remaining balance and went to
claim my remaining rewards points (worth $50 sear card). They accepted my
payment but then suddenly said the points I had accumalated over the past
two years were no longer valid as my account was closed. This REALLY
irritated me and was just plain wrong on their side. So I asked to talk to a
manger - so forth and so forth etc...
Got nowhere.
Here is my complaint. In 2003, 2004, 2005 I paid $25 ANNUAL fee for their
rewards program ($75). This payment entered me into a binding contract to
provide me the service of redeeming my points. In summer of 2005 (within the
year of subscription) Sears decided to change the terms of our contract
without my consent. When I did not agree then I lost my rewards program
points although this was never mentioned before. They in affect have
breeched their contract to provide me with my due rights under the rewards
program or even to offer me a refund on my subscription. I have filed a
complaint with the FTC. I hope others seek to protect consumer rights! |

18 months ago,sears mastercard had the best program going.I consolidated all
my credit cards to them.I received my bill today and they raised my interest
rate to "listen to this" 30%.I called them and freaked out.Citi bank bought
out sears credit card accounts.My account is riseing by 100's of dollars
each month.Since it is riseing,It has past my credit limit.I am getting
billed for being over the limit.

I have been a sears customer for many years and I have always had a sears
card with the name sears only on this card. We have been able to pay cash
for all of our purchases over the past few years and really never needed the
card. I have not charged anything to this card in many years. Why I kept
the card I will never know but this year we receive new cards with the name
mastercard in big letters with Sears name in a small corner of the card.
The company said that this is the new type card that we will have to replace
the normal Sears card. I didn't think nothing about it and we did the
normal phone call to re-activate the card. A few weeks latter we received a
statement from sears saying we owe for a life insurance fee and an account
care fee. We told the company that we did not request this and we did not
want this and just for trying to steal from us that we wanted the card
canceled as soon as possible. They said they would do this and we took
their word and cut !
the cards up and forgot about the issue. A few months later we received
another statement with those charges back on the card plus a 15.00 late
fee. I called back then and they tried to use the excuse that my wife added
the charge. (funny they took would take a wife request but would not let my
wife talk to them about this issue) Any way my wife did not authorize this
nor did I . They then told me that I had to call another company that
charge the insurance which was a sears company also and have them cancel the
charge. I did this but they would only credit one month. Then they told me
to call another sears owned company to cancel the account care charges. I
did this and the number they gave me came right back to the credit card
company and which I didn't know I was talking to until I spent 20 minutes
explaining my problem. Then they gave me another number in which I made
them give me twice and it was a bad number. I called them back and just
tried to get them to just!
stop these charges and let me stop having to chase down all these numbers.
They again gave me a bad number to call and told me that a letter will be
sent to me explaining what went wrong and when I get all these letters back
I can call them back and see if they will drop the charges. I am really
wondering how many people just give up and pay them. My credit is perfect
and I do not have one mark on my credit card. I have finally giving up
trying to stop these charges and if Sears puts one mark on my credit report
I am going to go on a campaign to get a class action lawsuit that I am sure
will get attention from others. Anyone out there that has experienced the

I was once a Sears customer and was oh so happy to be rid of them. Every
month I would pay more than requested....$250.00 to the 10,000 that I owed.
If I dare pay $300 or $400 in one month, the next billing statement would
have a higher finance fee. The more I pay, the higher they raised the
finance fees. I concluded that their actions would make it impossible for me
to pay off my Sears card. I was fortunate to have received an increased
credit limit on another card, and was able to pay off my Sears card. Now
they have a credit for me because of overpayment, which I am yet to receive.
I called them enquiring about the money they owed me and was told it went
out the same day. Today is a week and I have not received my money. If I had
owed them, I would have already received my statement. To date, I have not
yet received my money from Sears.
I also had a CitiCard account. Now having a Sears and CitiCard account would
have been conflict of interest. Guess what? CitiCard sold my account to Sony
who later sold it to another credit card company. All the while, I was
receiving solicitations from CitiCard. I realize that they were using me. I
was never late with either credit card company, yet Sears kept increasing my
finance fees. I called to have it reduce and was told by customer service
that their system was not set up to do that. When I asked for a later
payment date, I was also told that their system is also not set up to do
that at this time. My only response was that I would have to get rid of
them. Of course, several years went by before I was able to get rid of them.
Now, whenever I go to the mall, I pass through Sears to access the other
stores. I would never shop in any of the stores even if it was the last
store standing. I would rather go to China to shop. I warned my friend
about them and asked that they share my story about Sears with their
friends. We have to spread the word about Sears bad dealings with their
customers. I am an advocate for putting Sears out of business. Every one
must get the word out to their friends and families. Start a chain reaction
against Sears. Let's put them out of business, or we may be forced us to
file bankruptcy. Had I known I would have been treated in such ways, I would
have never opened an account with them. Luckily for me, I got out just in
time, or else they would have ruined my credit. I am no longer a customer of
Sears and will never, ever, shop there again. There should be a class action
lawsuit against Sears. That, hopefully, should put them out of business.I am
sure they have affected al!
most every American household. They are in business because of their bad
practices. Our finance fees are keeping them afloat.

First to anyone reading...if you have this problem or another one with
Sears/Citicard the three best things you can do are contact 1) Your state's
Attorney Generals office 2)Department of Financial Insitutions
3)Make a written compaint to the company and send it certified with a copy
for yourself
This way, you create a hard trail it will be difficult for Sears/Citicard to
weasel out of. Also, those state agencies are responsible for consumer
protection from the kind of crap Citicard/Sears is pulling and the Atty
General is the one who files class action suits on behalf of consumers when
there are large numbers of complaints.
My story:
My grandmother has had a Sears card for over ten years and had only had
problems one time int he history of her account. She has trouble
understanding most of these things and our family usually handles her
account issues and other affairs. I currently hold power of attorney for
her. Sometime this summer her payments mysteriously increased to almost
double. She made the first few and then let the family know she was having
problems. My uncle tried to help first. My grandma called Sears/Citicard
and gave him aithorization to access her account info for the sole purpose
of aiding in resolution. They then contact me and I called to straighten it
all out as my uncle had been told my mother was listed as a "authorized
user" and could be held financially liable should grandma default or pay
late for any reason. Funny, since my mother never signed anything, never
made a purchase, nor was she ever issued a card on my grandma's account! So
I called Citicard/Sears. I was to!
ld the same garbage, when I asked how this was legal I was informed that
this was their "common practice" and that not only was my mother listed as
an authorized user but so were my uncle and I! I told them under no
circumstance was anyone affiliated with the bill except for my grandmother.
We only were authorized to aid in bill resolution not buying appliances!
For the third time we requested the account be closed as it had been
requested before and never done. Also, I tried to negotiate about the
interest rate and the increase of payment. I was told that the company had
recieved several complaints from cutsomers who paid the monthly due and were
never affecting the principle...so the company decided to billin a different
manner. Now they are charging the finance plus 1% to 2% of the balance thus
the increased payment. They claimed they sent a notice out in June but
there was nothing to sign in order to accept the terms...silence was
approval! The customers had unti!
l July to contact Citicard and "opt out" of the new payment plan. My
grandmother was in and out of the hospital at that time...I have all of her
receipts going back ten or more years along with every statement and
notice...I have not found any such notification.
I was told the only way they would lower her payment was if she went to
collections or went into a credit counseling service...then they might also
lower her interest rate to as low as 9%!!! But otherwise they would not
work with her on this. I called my family and informed them. Then I
contacted Sears/Citicard again to see if the account had been closed (which,
by the way will not stop them from compunding the interest at the same high
rate I was told) it had not been. And now the rep was giving me attitude
saying I was "not authorized to access the account" though I had been hours
before. After lengthy debate the rep found my authorization. I again
repeated that no one should be an authorized user but gran....he told me we
had to be authorized users to access her account. I noted that the whole
authorized user bit sounded like a scam and that no one but grams should be
listed as the financially responsible party. I asked how this authorized
user business was lega!
l without our signatures...the rep told me gran could authorize anyone she
chose without notification and the company did not have to notify them
either! So I asked if that meant should gran authorize George Bush and then
she defaulted on the account would Citicard be reporting the account as a
negative on the president's credit report. The rep had no answer but this
is the essential idea. Once we argued about it some more I was told that in
order to access her account WITHOUT being an "authorized user" they had to
have a copy of the power of attorney...geez! I could have done that months
ago had they bothered to mention it! So I asked why in all of this no one
had mentioned this to gran and it had taken me 3 days worth of calls and
getting into an argument to be told this info? The rep had no answer. I
have since talked to a member of the Attorney General's office in the state
my gran resides. He was also non-plussed as how the "authorized user" thing
was legal and w!
e have filed a formal complaint. I am hoping all of my efforts end in a
class action against Sears/Citicard...I suggest you also make a complaint
and stop their scams! |

Problem w/ Sears/Citicard Mastercards...
I moved in May, cancelled the card because of the interest rates
increasing. Didn't know there was an outstanding balance, however I did
change my address w/ the company the month before. They must have recorded
my address wrong and sent my bill to a different city. They had my new
street address but the city address was incorrect. (I had no phone at the
time I changed the address, so no phone number with which to call me.) Then
somehow they found me, I guess because of my social. I pay my bill IN FULL
EVERY MONTH...this was 5 months that had gone by and they finally call me
and tell me I had $24.10 in charges but that NOW the balance is $175.+ due
to late fees and charges for not paying. WHAT?????
Also when I called them the people were absolutely RUDE! I talked w/ one
woman who was just billigerent! She puts me in touch w/ her supervisor who
is just as rude as the first woman, if not more so. She tells me they will
take off the service charges of $150+ and to just send in the $24.10 but
when can I send that? When I ask for her name because she is so incredibly
rude she refuses to give it to me. She says over and over "I already gave
it to you when I first got on" and won't give it to me again. She then
proceeds to hang up on me.
I have to call back and get another woman, much nicer to find out what the
address is where I am supposed to send my check. After all I have cancelled
the account and I no longer have this information. She gives me that info
and puts a note on my account. I think that all is solved. Then a couple
of days later (not enough time for a check to have arrived yet) I get
another phone call. The same thing all over again. I talk to someone and
explain the entire thing again, AND I also call and talk to someone from
customer service. They also both say that all charges other than the
originally charged $24.10 will be dropped.
Then today, at work & now 12 days later I get yet another call! I have to
go thru the same thing all over again. This woman puts me in touch w/
customer service again and she tries to have the charges deleted, but then
finds out that she can not. FINALLY THE PROBLEM, but now it's been 3 weeks
since it was brought to my attention!
She says that I have to write to the address below:

I will have my letter in the mail tonight. But I thought that others might
want this address to try to resolve their disputes. This has certainly put
a bad taste in MY mouth for SEARS and for K-Mart since they are now owned by
the same people.
Perhaps if people take action and stop buying from them they will feel it
where they really care...in the pocket!

Complaint: Sear is the worst company to ever obtain a credit card. Well,here
is where my nightmare begins. I was laid off for several months and got
behind on payments. The collection department contacted me and stated they
had a match program for customers that was in my situation. The lady in
customer service indicated that if I paid "Sears" $600 the program would
match my payment with $599 and my account would be brought up to date.I went
to the local Mall and paid my $600 and that was 5 months ago and I still
have not received the credit to my balance.Also they raised my APR. to 30%
and refusing to lower the rate until after a 6 month review. I am so stress
over this situation because I am back to work and able to pay however every
month my Finance Charge is $75. I feel I will never get this debt taken care
of.This credit card company is very unfair and does not live up to the
slogan of Customer Satisfaction.I have been a card holder of Sears for over
20 years. |

Complaint: I have a sears mastercard and have past due acount It is one of
my first cards so my limit is only $600, I moved and started school and all
my income was going to living exspenses. Sear it just overwhelmed me
becuase they started charging late fees and overlimit fees that were $80
dollars a month so my payments they requested were over $300 I didn't have
it so I have been waiting till tax returns to have money to pay it off. I
started with only spending $600 on it due to fees its now up to 900, so
they turned over to a credit recovery agency that tells me if its not paid
in full Citi will take me to court and then i will have to pay court fees
and their lawyer fees I told them I could pay in January but have no money
as of right now. I'm just so irritated that a start of only $600 can turn
into so much more.Sears which is affilliated with Citi card didn't have
anything to say to me and only wanted to transfer me to pioneer recovery
agency. So forget about them!
waiting a couple of months so I can pay it off they just want to take me to
court, which almost makes me have an attitude not to pay it! i know if I do
pay it off iI will cut it up along with all the rest of my credit cards
their evil! After it goes to court does anyone know how much it probably
will add to my debt? |

My mother Alice Beckum got a sear home improvement loan for the siding on
her house. My my mother took sick the early part of the year, her knee got
worst as time went by. the doctor put her on pain medicine, that mad her
members foggy. My mother payments on the siding was only 288.00 dollars a
month. I n feb. 2005 sears made some changes my mother didnot pay the letter
attention the bill she recieved in June 2005, her payment is only 188.00 a
month., for the last 2 months they are trying force her to change to this
out rage amount of monthly payments, how can they these cutomers monthy
payment any way they want too, this is not legal. Some one from customer
service call my mother the week of the 10 of November, mother got sick and
past out, she was taking to the hospital in the ambulance, her blood
pressure went up and she past out.
She was home alone, just image if this matter was worst. My mother pay
sears 188.00 ever since she had the account open for the siding, I talk with
the sale representative and Credit counselor before we authorize for the
siding that this was going to be her monthly payment. After reading some of
the cmplaints on sears/citibank, this is a serious concern for all citizens
I hope something is going to be done about them. I am filing a copalint
aganist sears, as I type this complaint, I will get a lawyer. One of the
customer service manger told me that there were nothing wrong with my mother
when she had the siding put on the house, told her that my my is very sick,
I can not believe they have these type of people working for them, YOUR

I had made arrangements due to some financial difficulties to set up a
payment arrangement on this car at a set monthly fee with agreement to
reduce interest rates until I could get the account current. The first
payment took place in November 2005 with no incident. On Dec 23 I contacted
Sears to set up a payment arrangement to pay the account off as I was
expecting some money to come through just after the Christmas holiday.
They agreed to a match pay of $599 if I paid the agreed upon amount of
$4354.22.
I made that payment and they admit it posted to the account on December 30
when I spoke with then today Jan 14. I had called to follow up also on Jan
12 and was told that the payment had not been posted to the account.
On Dec 27 I received a letter from my banking institution that the
December pre authorized payment that had been scheduled prior to the payoff
of the account had been attempted to be withdrawn against a "bad micro line"
or incorrect account number.
Sears claims is was an NSF and they resubmitted and took the payment on Jan
9 which by some miracle posted to the correct account. They are claiming
that this was a resubmittal of the December payment and that I must have
provided incorrect account information. This is the same information they
had on the account since November...and I did not change any of my
information or accounts.
They are now saying that I did not follow the correct payoff process and are
rescinding their match pay agreed to of $599.
I asked to speak to a manager and was told I have to call back on Monday
because the call volume was too high today (Jan 14 Saturday). I also
received in the mail a new card, only to find after it had been activated
that when I tried to log onto my on line access for it, that it had been
cancelled...so why was I allowed to activate the card?
When i called customer support about not being able to access the account on
line I was transferred to customer service about the amount due of $599 and
was told that the account was current but closed. Now that was a surprise!
SEARS AND CITI CARD NEED TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER. EVERY TIME I TALK TO
SOMEONE I GET A DIFFERENT STORY. I AM GOING TO PURSUE THE MATCH PAY AS
PROMISED, OTHERWISE I WOULD NOT HAVE PAID THE ACCOUNT IN FULL BUT DRAGGED
OUT THE PAYMENTS! |

Complaint_against: Sears Credit (Citigroup)
Complaint: I have had my Sears account for 27 years (opened in 1977). I
never had any issues with the account until Citigroup took over the accounts
of Sears. Since Citigroup took control there were numerous changes in
terms that raised nominal purchase interest rates on the card from 11% to
almost 18%. At the point that the interest rates went to 17% I opted to
close my account. This past August, I had failed to "click through" to the
final screen and as a result was assessed a late fee of $35.00. Upon
appeal, Sears credit waived the fee. Most recently my statement was not
misdelivered to my neighbor who failed to bring it to me, as a result, I did
not receive the statement and paid my bill 4 days late. Now Sears has raised
my rate to over 30% and this will cost me over $400.00 |

Complaint: Never sends bill to correct address or on correct date. Their
website does not work anywhere/anytime. So you cannot access account
online. If you call the phone number - they wait until like 3 days before
the bill is due to have the info online - which is too late to mail a
payment and since you can't access it online you can't pay it online. If you
want to pay by phone they charge 14.95 ( I don't know if they charge a fee
online since no one can access their online system). If you go to a Sears
store there is no guarantee it will be put into the system in time - even if
they tell you it will be on time. They are doing this to make money off of
late payment fees. This is all because Sears is going broke and this is how
they make money to keep in business. |

MasterCard in 1993. I never used this card. My ex-wife, an authorized user,
did and of course the account is maxed out and now CitiCard is claiming I'm
responsible for this. I never authorized this charge to MasterCard, I
thought I had a Sears store card (which I'd lost). I've complained in

I was searching to vent out my anger and I finally found this site.
I was stupid enough to be bought by the 10% discount and applied for the
Sears card. The bill didn't arrive and I was charged late fee. I called to
waive that but customer service of sears are really trained to be RUDE and
it wasn't waived. She told me that this is the final amount that I should
pay and that they won't be any late payment. I closed the account but was
charge another late payment. I called again to get the same rude responses
and after getting so tired dealing with sears, I made all the amount in
full, which was 3 times the original purchase price of the T-Fal set that I
bought!!! What is more, my credit report was hurt really badly that I have
difficulty getting a loan approved. To think that Sears disrupted my entire
credit where I had excellent credit score before!!! I can't regret enough
about opening an account with them.
I vow I will never ever give any business to Sears in this lifetime. I warn
you to be very very wary of Sears credit line. |

Complaint: I obtained my Sears Mastercard (now owned by Citibank) in 2000.
In 2002 I took out a credit protection policy with Mastercard. In 2003 I was
diagnosed with lung cancer and filed for debt cancellation with Mastercard
at the end of 2003. Citibank has refused to honor the policy. They say my
situation is "unfortunate" but they are within their rights to refuse
because I've never had an overnight hospital stay. I am on permanent
disability. I am 60 years old. I have filed complaints with the State
Attorney General's Office (the one in my state and also in the state
headquarters of Citibank) and filed complaints with the Comptroller of the
Currency. It is now 2006 and none of the agencies can or will help. No one
can control this Citibank. They have put a "charge off" on my credit reports
and have now sold my account to a collection agency. Credit card holders
Beware!! |

I had a regular Sear Credit Card for years. Paid it on time, no problems.
Then one day I received a Sear GoldCard Mastercard in the mail, and stating
my other Sears card wasn't any good anymore. Well for years I used it and
paid it off. Being a good customer, they increased my credit limit. I due
to circumstance I went above my credit limit but made payments.
I deceided to contact them and as if they would reduce the interest rate,
and they flatly said no. I transfered a little bit to another credit credit
card but still had to deal with now large minumin payments.
Again I called and the customer service person told me if I paid down the
balance they could match up to $1000.00 a year and take that off the bill.
Actually $500.00 twice a year. So I took out a loan and paid everything off
except for $500.00. After a month I called back and asked how and when
they'd remove the remainding monies. The customer service person said "Oh we
can't, your current". I asked to talk to a superviser who told me pretty
much the same thing but in a ruder tone. I was told to write an appeal,
which I did. Never to hear back from them. So I called and was told "no
we're not removing the monies". I never received anything in writing and
just floored that they made up the rules as they go. When I took out a loan
to pay off this account, I called Customer Service again and asked for
something in writing pertaining to this agreement of removing the $500.00.
Justin said No he wouldn't...and I hung up. So now what... NEVER DEAL with
THIS BANK!!! |

I have been a Sears Card holder for nearly 10 years in good standing. In
April I paid my bill as usual on the due date, and as I was preparing my
bills on my banks online bill pay service for the month of May, I made
another payment to sears. My payment was due may 6th, and the payment posted
on April 25th, 11 days Early as I had made my April payment on April 5th. I
had meant to set May 5th as the pay date but must have accidentally used the
default date that billpay poped up instead. No big deal right? It should
have posted on time, but no, they Charged me a 35$ late fee.
SO, Being reasonable, I figured that it was just a computer or clerical
error on their part and called customer service for the sears card, which is
now being handeled by Citigroup. There they basically accused me of bieng
delinquent and demanded immidate payment, threatened my credit rating and
made me feel like a lowlife instead of a long term customer who deserves to
be treated with a little respect. They would not give us a dispute claim
number even though the online form said that a number must be recieved from
customer service. And we were told that disputing would do no good that we
should just pay it.
This is like punishment for paying early, how rediculous. They treated
me like I was nuts for even suggesting that the second payment at the end of
the month was for the next month, and that I was somehow trying to get away
with something.
Until Sears cuts its ties to Citigroup, I will no longer be doing any
business with them.
Ty Pennington, please give these crooks a makeover, I suggest complete
demolition. |

Sears has the worst technical services EVER!!!. To make the long story
short. Their services are wasting a lot of people valueable time. It takes
them three visits to change a part to a range. They don't seem to realize
that people need to take time off from work in order to wait for them to
come to the home to fix the problem. They are not knowledgable and not
prepared or able to pre-diagnosis the problem (even though the problem was
described to them). If they were able to pre-diagnosis, the technicans
should be able to bring the part with them at that time and make one visit
rather than multiple visits. If that is incorrect, then they can order the
correct part at their first visits, which is more understandable. In
addition, it took them over 1 hr to schedule a first visit appointment due
to the fact they did not record an extended protection agreement purchased
in 2005, thus they put me on hold to locate and enter the information.
Thank goodness I kept all my receipts from Sears!!! I don't trust them and I
would not recommend anyone to hire Sears for any technical or electrical
services. I heard many bad things about them and now I am experiencing them
today. For my future appliances, it will not be from SEARS!!! I don't want
to deal with the hassle again!!! PS: I think I had a defected range
since the day it was delivered!!!! |

I have had Sears Credit for over 20 Years. When I was young, my Dad always
told me to have good Sears credit because it was a must have family account.
Well, many of us have experienced bad credit practices from Sears in recent
years. They have changed the terms of their credit and harshly raised
interest and penalties.
The truth of the matter is that virtually ALL credit card companies have
unfairly boosted their profits by scamming the American public by new
legislation in the past 10 to 15 years.
The solution is to pay off all of your credit cards and not use them. I am
going to a debit credit card system after I pay off my 2 Sears and 3 other
MC/VISA cards. |

Complaint:
I am a Sears card holder in good standing. I have always had a $0 minimum
payment every month as my payments were quite substantial and always early.
A few months ago, I used the sears card in an ATM is error (same color as my
debit card). When I realizes what had happened, I called to see what I
could do (I have never used the card for cash in all the years I've had
it). Basically, they told me "tough luck". I paid the bill.
Now, it seems since I made a complaint about their poor attitude, my $0
payment status has disappeared. How? They don't know, don't know who does,
don't know how to find out and don't care to help you. The manager wnet as
far to say (when I said "hello" again because the line sounded dead) that
she wasn't talking, she'd let me do it.
I have only used on credit card at a time, but I am determined to let
everyone know how they treat their customers. They do not chase after me
for payments and they STILL treat you miserably. I let the manager know
this evening that I will make it a point to post this information anywhere I
can. I know that losing me as a customer will have absolutely no affect on
this corporation. BUT, if people keep swithing - one at a time - it will
eventually have an impact.

Complaint: I closed my Sears Credit Card Account with a $900 credit balance.
The customer service rep said that they would send me a check for the
credit. I never got the check. However marketing material from Sears
continues to come to my address. I called customer service five times and
was been told that the check was sent a month ago. They said they would
cancel and send another one. It has been over two months and still no check.

Complaint: You are right- I think they actually prey on people -I am glad
to find out that their one year zero financing is a rip so I have a year to
get out-DO NOT buy a sears air conditioner. Theyve wrecked my house.They
sold me on a higher end unit and because of my small kids and illness - I
said I would pay for excellent customer service because I needed it. The
salesman said thts what the sears name would get me. First, it took all day
- not two hours. the installers assistant left alone on the job said hed
try and make the electrical "work"...and crawls around in the crawlspace
trying his heart out. After a weekend and a couple days with no AC the
assistant shows up to fix it., and cant. The next day the bossman shows up
and says that the ac was fine my ducts were collapsed. He pulls them out
fiberglass/aka "cotton candy-mom!" was everywhere. He does me a special
favor of putting something else in. Meanwhile I notice the elbow on the roof
attaching the unit looks li!
ke heck. It was on our contract to replace with a new elbow. Also, the
lights dim when the unit cycles on - and still do. The bossman said rats or
something collapsed my old ducts (which worked fine b4 all this) Then I take
it up with the "project manager"that his contracter seemed reaLLY
INCOMPETENT AND THAT THE ELBOW WAS PART OF THE CONTRACT AND HE NEEDED TO
REPLACE IT. hE SAID THAT HED ALREADY PAID THIS SUB AND THE ONLY WAY WAS TO
HAVE THE SAME GUYS OUT THERE. i TOLD HIM THAT MR PROJECT MANAGER OF SEARS
HAD TO PERSONALLY BE THERE TO SUPERVISE IF THE SAME GUYS CAME OUT. sure
enough assistant came back alone WEEKS later to move the whole unit, remove
their patch job elbow - which had popped open by then exposed to rain etc.
Project manager stayed a while came inside and saif assistant was a bout

the elbow. I called mr Manager. He said "I didnt think there was anything
left for him to screw up" And offered to have assistant come back open it
all up again and just pound it back into shape. Now based on this, and also
back to the collapsed duct and ill make it work comment - I am sure tha that
long checklist of how the sears installer checked about 8 aspects of the
existing to insure proper installation of this superioir unit - werent
attended at all. So I have plenty of doubts about the projected efficiency -
SAFETY of this dandy unit (what with our continued dimming lights -
continuing fiberglass coming out the vents onto my kids heads, and a crinkly
sound in the ducts as it shuts on)I have dread of the idea of having an
ongoing SERVICE contract with this new unit - getting a good service
contract on a new unit instead of some home warranty coverage for the old
one was another big reason for ge!
tting a new unit at all - because in my situation, as I told the salesman I
didnt want service - I NEED it.Now thanks to this site - I have been warned
of another thing to worry about thanks to SEARs: this dandy 1 year
financing. Tehy use their sears name to pawn off bottom rung installers to
people in particular need for good reputation and service. |

Complaint: Yeah, not really a complaint but more like what are you going to
do, really, in 1992 i got a sears card and it did not take very long to put
about 5000.00 on it after a few layoffs and some other late fees my credit
shot and all of that noise and paying the monthly payment i calculated that
today i have paid them over 30,000 and i owe them over 4100.00 so the other
day i sent them a money order for 2500.oo this bought my balance down to
over 1700.00 i will be so glad when i pay these people what i owe them (and
so so much more) off i was led to believe that ther was no more mafia, or
that there was still ethical biz practices out there, but you know what, I
was the one who singed my okie doke to,that contract with the dark side, and
I am resposible for how it is that i pay whatever burden that they put on
me, i can sometimes sleep with that, but i wonder how they do, once i was
watching tv and they had this little guy running around building these new
houses for s!
ears for just anybody and just giving them away with sears getting most the
credit for it i guess, but i saw these poor under privledged people that
live in filthy conditions, reasons vary why, with a brand new home to at
least meet their basic human needs with at least a 30,000 stamped concrete
job going to a 4000.00 front entryway themed rooms and such, so to ease
their souls and mine a little i guess, some of that outragous interest that
they collect from not just myself but from thousands just like me might
extravagant as it may seem stupid be used to make them look like a concerned

All three of these banks have applied penalty rates to my balances either
because of one or two late payments one day late, or because the finance
charges caused my balance to exceed the limit. I am being charged 30-30%
interest on each account. I have made my payments on time and have remained
below my credit limit, but none of these lenders have offered to lower my
rate. When I requested a lower rate, they said no. When I requested a
temporary payment plan from Bank of America, they closed my Platinum account
(previously a $12,000 credit limit).
Please e-mail Senators Chris Dodd and Carl Levin. They are conducting
credit card reform hearings to establish precedent for legislation
prohibiting abuse of credit card holders.
I would join any class action lawsuit against these predators. |

I don't know who's worse with their customer service Sears or Citi Bank...
Personaly I think they both stink. I've always paid my bills on time or
sooner every month, and always paid the min due or $10-$20 MORE then
requested. Whats more amazing about these idiots is that I go INTO THE STORE
AND PAY CASH, AND GET A SLIP SAYING HOW MUCH I'VE PAID, THE DATE TIME
EVERYTHING, even the sale assiciate name!!! So I made a payment in March
2007 of $50 to a HUMAN IN THE STORE. I get my next statement for April, and
suprise I've got a late fee.. I'm thinking "what the heck was I off a
day?"... so I look at my receipt.. nope, I paid ON TIME. So, I called Sears
asked them what was wrong, and oh look another suprise, apparently because
I'm in California, and their bank is in NORTH DAKOTA, I have to make my
payments BEFORE 3PM on the due date of it to not be considered late!!! And
on top of that they raised me intrest rate from 19% to a whopping 34.5%
THATS 15.5% INCREASE!!! I argued with them about it saying that it doesn't
state anywhere that California residents have to pay before a certin time.
And that becasue of their error, I shouldn't have my intrest rate go up.
They said Sorry, I have to deal with it for the next 6 months, and then
they'll evalluate me again then. They have to be some of the biggest
CROOKS!!! They need a class action lawsuite aginst them... THEIVES!!!! |

Sears sold me account care insurance and charged me $70 per month . I was
told if I ever became disabled the insurance would pay off the account. I
was disabled from a car crash a I called then to file a claim .
They refused to send me information and told me since I was self employed
that I could not file a claim. When I opened the account they knew I had
been self employed for 30 years.
Sears and Citibank are crooks big time and this county is failing because of
the Greedy Banks and Insurance Companies |

The card had not been used in a very long time but I was paying on it. In a
very short time I was over the limit. There were other circumstances that
prevented me from getting the payment to Sears ON TIME. The calls started
and then was told on the phone if I could pay the payments three months in a
row without being late, it would bring the account current and I would not
be behind. I did make these payments and then calls started again. I told
the rep about the 3 month agreement and she said it did not hold up as I was
not the authorized person on the account and my husband would have to call
and get me authorized. He was so mad at the time and I told her she did not
want him to speak to anyone due to this fact. She was rude and telling me
what I should have done to avoid this in the first place. I told her first
of all, do not tell me what I should have done, I will hang up right now. I
had to tell her this several times before she started to work with me on
trying to ma!
ke payment arrangements. I made another payment which did not cost me
additional fees due to being LATE and in collections at the time. They would
not take any additional money off or late fees, over the limit fees or
anything else. They did not work with CCC at the time but have been told
they do now! It is too late for that as I was forced earlier to go to CCC
which is almost paid off now and not about to add another 4 yrs to this
payment.
When my email address changed, they stopped me from using their website
which also caused payments to be late. Now I was told I could not use the
site because this account was in collections. That is crap! I was paying
them before when it was in collections. Nothing could be done to get me back
to pay on their site for payments.
Calls started again recently and when I asked why they were calling again, I
was told they did not get the last month's payment. I checked my bank
website where I now have to pay them and the time for the paymens to come
out had expired. The rep told me I was approved for match pay. The first I
heard of this so she explained if I paid $599 they would match that amount
and take it off of the card. She said I would save up that money if I were
you and get it to us and then your balance would be $300. The next day or
two I had another call and told him I had resolved this the day before and
was paying through my bank website since they STOPPED me from paying on
their site. He was sorry to hear that and could not give me anything I had
not heard before. When I asked about the match pay, he said that only goes
for delinquent accounts, if you are current, they do not offer this.
We are real upset with Sears Card and will never have another one. Our
family members have also had bad dealings with them as well and we have all
decided NO MORE SEARS CARDS!! EVER!!!! |

First off, Im P.O.d so forgive me if I sound angry. I get my credit
report this Quarter. Its dropped over 90 points. There is a new
"account". Its Sears. Stating that I owe $223 and that Im $169
overdue. Worse yet its showing over 120 days late on my report. My
Sears card expired 08/06. With no purchases on it probably within that last
two years, so my balance would have been $0. I called Customer
Service. They said they couldnt help me,that they had sold my account. They
give me a 1800 to call. I called them, they said my account had just
been sold today, Aug 16, to another company,and to call them in two weeks.
Pissed off by this point,I hug up. Called Sears back. This lady tells
me this charge is for insurance.??????????? Insurance for what????? She says
Credit Protection. That I became a member in 2003,which for the record
and with all honesty I DONT recall ever doing. She said they automatically
charged my account again DECEMBER 06. Okay,ONE, there was NO balance.
So how could they charge based on a balance? TWO. They NEVER sent me a
statement of any kind. Would Sears not question the fact that if I HAD
NOT renewed my card,THAT THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE I WOULDNT BE LOOKING TO PAY
OFF A BALANCE 3 YEARS LATER AFTER THE "ORIGINAL" CHARGE. I was sent to
many many 1800 numbers. Of course, the last one, after hours of hassle was
closed for the night. Im going to be honest here. I dont remember
signing a damn thing. NOTHING. Nor authorizing any such charge.
That being said. 3 YEARS LATER, almost 4, Sears charges me $45 and out of
the Blue in 2007 Im getting finacially SCREWED because of it. As Im writing
this I swear a heart attack isnt far away. There something very wrong
here.VERY WRONG. |

Recieved a bill from sears, an order from serengheti. I have no sears credit
card, didnt order anything. Called and they wanted ss number and phone
number. I told them they had my address and their account number for me,
that was enough verifacation. I called serengheti, they said I have no
account with them. another month, late fees added to credit card, called
again, told them it was a scam , a fraud, he said e didnt know this, when I
told him I would report them to better business bureau, then he said he
could take off late fee charges, I said you better take off all carges,
because I have no credit card with sears and recieved no item from
serengetti. h e then said he would put me in touch with the fraud
department, which she couldnt talk to me, because I refused to give her my
phone and ss number.. What can be done about this damn fraud..Kmart has lost
my business now, because they belong to sears ! |

Complaint: I actually work for sears and I will tell any consumer never open
up a sears card unless you are going to pay it off the same day you use it.
I thought I was paying sears off due to the fact my last statement told me
my balance was $2,062.15. I paid sears $2,000 and they owe me over $100
dollars due to a account care issue, well when I paid the $2,000 I naturally
assumed (don't assume you know what they say you make of yourself) that my
next statement would show a credit to me of some sort once they factored in
the money they owed me, but as soon as I got the bill I notice that I owe
them $34.16 because Sears has charged me a finance charge that they say is
billed a month in advance.Now maybe I am confused but if my account balance
shows $2,062.15 and then shows a payment and credit of $2,070.09 I should
show a credit, no they charged me $42.10 in finance charges, and they still
owe me over $30 in credits. I can not believe this is legal if they are
going to charg!
e you finance charges daily or a month in advance then I fill this should
reflect on the bill with the pay off balance. I am going to pay sears there
funky little $34.16 in hopes my next month bill does not show another
ridiculous finance charge that I can not see and that sears tells me is
calculated after they receive your payment, what bull shit and yes I did get
frustrated and cus on the phone and I got hung up on. I would love for the
people who work for Sears credit to have to deal with there theiving ways
and see how they like.Best believe I will never use my Sears card ever
again. |

Charges Complaint: I hope Sears could go
bankrupt very soon. Horrible customer service from Sear credit. Rips
people off like wackheads. We had to pay a finance charge of $500
just because we were off a few days the expiration date of the
payments. My poor parents are already in a bad financial status and
thats why they chose to do the monthly payments in the first freaken
place. They take advantage of my non-english speaking parents and
wont even consider looking over the account and making an exception
and decides to mock them because their not american and tells us to
pay $500 for finance charges when they have been paying all of thei!
r bills on time. Their so desperate to rip people off with insane
fees. I bet they split all those up with their credit employees so
they can smoke pot and piss the poor people off. Surprises me how

Complaint_against: Sears Credit - Citibank
Complaint: I purchased a new refrigerator in Dec 2007 under a
12-months same-as-cash (SAC) charge. Not only was no minimum due
each month, but I faithfully paid $200/mo in order to ensure the
charge of $1800 was paid before the SAC expiration date. To my
delight, my credit limit was increased by $600 after demonstrating
my intent and ability to pay. Much to my surprise, Citibank reversed
the credit limit increase and reduced by credit line from $2600 to
$600! No payments have ever been missed, nor have I defaulted on ANY
other creditors during my credit history. I promptly paid the entire
balance and closed my account. When the customer service rep asked
for the reason why I was cancelling the card, I told her "I
shouldn't have to give you a reason...you didn't give ME a reason
when you lowered my credit limit!" I will no longer shop at Sears
nor will I solicit any credit cards under the Citibank umbrella. The
billions in bailout money given to Citibank and other credit card
companies has done nothing to prevent them from adversely affecting
our FICO scores with unsubstantiated credit limit reductions. |

HAD TO CALL THE COLLECTION COMPANY. THE COLLECTION AGENCY LVNV
FUNDING WAS VERY THREATENING TOWARDS ME THEY KEPT ASKING ABOUT MY
PERSONAL PRO! PERTY AND IMPLYING THEY COULD TAKE IT AND SELL IT TO
PAY OFF MY DEBT. EVEN THOUGH I PAID THEM AND SEARS CLAIMS THEY DONT
WOWN THE ACCOUNT, THEY ARE STILL UPDATING IT ON MY CREDIT REPORT 2
YEARS LATER AS A RECENT BAD DEBT CHARGE OFF, CONSTANTLY LOWERING MY

Complaint: Sears Credit recently doubled the interest rate I had @
11.9% to 21.24%. No reason given. They said they sent out notice of
this effect since the first of this year whether to except or
decline. I called and complained that I was unaware of this outrages
dramatic change in rates, especially the way the economy is right
now. I was told that since I did not decline within the three month,
I was stuck with those rates. I told them I have bill pay and I
don't open the statements so I was unaware of this change, I haven't
charged and I have excellent payment history. I urge to those that
have a Sear Credit Card to look at your interest rates to make sure
your weren't screwed with these unethical rates. I will not shop or
even charge with Sears anymore and I urge anyone who has had the
same happen to them do the same. If they stick it to you, then stick
it to them. |

Complaint: I have had endless problems with my local
Sears retailer and with my Sears Premier Gold Mastercard; here I
describe two, non-related problems. Yesterday I noticed on my Sears
Credit Card bill that they had jacked my interest rate up to 29.99%,
probably because I was a few days late on a payment within the past
12 months. In other words, Sears saw me being a couple days late
after being a faithful customer for over a decade as an excuse to
commit usury. I called the number on my bill and complained about
it. The representative, a man named Denzel (sp.) said he would put
me on hold in order to "submit a request for review", whatever that
means. While he had me on hold, I noticed a charge on the bill for
$25 for a "Rewards program" that Sears apparently "offers." I had
never requested or authorized the charge. When Denzel returned to
the phone, I told him about the charge and that I had never
requested it. While I was speaking, Denzel interrupted me to tell me
that the only way the charge could have appeared was because I had
called them to request it. I asked him to please wait, I had not
finished speaking. He interrupted me again, when I tried to explain
that neither my wife nor I ever called to request such a program in
which you have to pay to get a reward, and I said to him, "Please
stop interrupting me." He yet again interrupted me to tell me that
he "highly doubted that I had not called up" to request the charge.
In semi-polite language, in other words, HE ACCUSED ME OF LYING when
I said I had never requested to be charged and signed up for the
program . During the entire call I remained polite and calm while
being railroaded by Denzell, the Sears employee. I asked to speak to
his supervisor. I said I did not appreciate being accused, even
through insinuations, of lying. I said that as a paying customer
whose payments help pay his salary, his rudeness made me angry;
after all I was paying him, he was not paying me. I told him I
resented being interrupted every time I attempted to say something
to him. I am not exaggerating; as soon as I brought up the fact that
I had never requested to be enrolled in the rewards program, and had
never authorized a charge for it, he began interrupting me every
single time I spoke in an attempt to stonewall me and cover up the
fact that Sears had illegally placed a charge on my account for the
company's own benefit. I never lost control of my composure during
the call, and never failed to demonstrate courtesy and respect, yet
he accused me of being rude to him, and that I had been interrupting
him! The expression Denzel used was "This is a two-way street." As
far as I could tell, Denzell was driving the only vehicle, and it
was a steam roller headed straight for me on a one-lane, one-way
road. People and companies that make a habit of lying to their
clients, and that practice usury, often use the old "smoke and
mirrors" routine, stonewalling, or bullying tactics, to attempt to
wear down the abused client and steal his money. When I demanded to
speak with a supervisor, Denzell adopted an indignant and
condescending tone (more bullying), At this point he put the phone
down, ostensibly, yet with no warning, to get a supervisor to speak
to me. At first I thought he had hung up on me. I am glad I waited
on the phone on the chance that Denzell had not actually hung up on
me. The supervisor, Ashley, informed me that there was no way to
register a complaint! I have never heard of a company in which
customer service plays such an important role and yet the company
lacks any means of addressing customer complaints. At this point I
realized that I was dealing with something very bizarre indeed.
Ashley apologized for Denzell's rudeness, and informed me that since
I had been such a loyal Sears customer over the years, that the
review would likely go in my favor. I also had her double check to
make sure Denzell didn't exact vengeance on what he perceived as MY
rude behavior, (at this point I wasn't discounting the possibility
that the gentleman might be a paranoid schizophrenic and had done
something terrible to my account records in a sick attempt at
"getting even" with me for some reason. Fortunately he had done what
I requested, submitted the interest rate for review and unenrolled
me from the program and refunded the cost of it. Denzell needs to
find some more fulfilling line of work; I sincerely hope I never
have to deal with him again. I plan on closing out my Sears account
and never shopping there again, not only because of this experience,
but because of the other experience I said I would recount in this
letter. Months ago, I took my car in to get the brakes repaired a
Sears. All the car needed was new brake pads. When they called me
back to inform me of the dollar amount of the estimate, they told me
it was going to cost me in excess of $600 !!!! I had to pay an
estimate charge to get the car back. I replaced the brake pads
myself for only about $100. They told me all kinds of things were
wrong with my car. So many things wrong with the brakes that I can't
remember them all. My mechanic friend looked at it and his comment
was "They are robbing you, I'll help you do this and charge you
nothing. Just get the parts." Which is exactly what I did and the
car has been fine ever since. WHY DOES SEARS LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL
AND NEVER HAS TO PAY THE CONSEQUENCES? There must be a way to make a
formal complaint with some person or organization which can
effectively address this matter. If anyone can help me I would be
most grateful. I am not the kind of person who goes out of his way
to complain about things, I usually let things slide and chalk them
up to the fact that anyone can have a bad day at work. This,
however, pushed my buttons, and was going to cost me money I can't
afford to spend now. In the words of Mr. Filtch of Hogwarts School
of Witchcraft and Wizardry, "I want to see some punishment here!" |
