Complaint:
When I applied for a credit card ,National City looked into my credit
rating and issued me a card at 4.75%(fixed). Two years later even though I
always pay above the amount due each month, and haven't missed a payment, I
recieved quite a surprise.Recently National City decided to go into my
credit rating again and found some discrepencies which I am sure were there
in the first record search. They (National City) raised my int rate to 23.9%.
Its hard to believe a company has the right to invade my privacy , and
acccess my credit report at their convenience, and further more the ability
to restructure the contract that we had . |

Complaint: National City Bank failed to send me a statement for 2 months.
Then they charged me late and overage fees and raised my interest. Two other
credit card companies raised their rates in collusion with National City
even though my payments were on time and more than the minimum. By the time
I found out my payment with N.C.B. was behind I was in big trouble. N.C.B.
claimed their first statement was returned by the post office even though
they could not prove it since they didn't keep the return envelope. Then
they said they didn't bother to mail the next statement because the previous
one was returned. The post office said they would not have returned the
statement for the reason given - a change in the four digits added after the
zip code. If what they were saying was true, they should have notified me
immediately when the statement was returned instead of waiting untill I was
2 payments late. The other two companies should have called me before they
raised their rat!
es to give me a chance to explain. I now refuse to pay anything to any of
them until they "collude" together to straghten out the mess. Now they call
me everyday but they still want to charge me the added interest. What can I
do? I turned the matter over to Emergency Debt Relief settlement company but
they said they will not deal with them. Is there any way to force them to
take responsibility for the mess they caused by not mailing the statements
or notifying me promptly. They said Ishould have made the payments anyway
and the statements are only a courtesy. I explained to them that due to a
stroke 2 years ago I simply file bills in order of due date and pay them as
they come due. If I don't get a bill then they don't get a payment. |

Complaint: I have had a credit card with National City for over five years
with a fair interest rate of 9.09%. My payments have always been well above
the minimum sometimes even paying the balance off of several thousand
dollars. Recently My wife and I decided to remodel the kitchen and cedited
approx $6700.00 on the National City Card. Without notice National City More
then doubled our interest rates and finance charges to 19%.Calling to
complain I was told they periodically review credit and make ajusments to
interest rates charged. I was also told I could always transfer my balance
to another card and close my account with a 3% penelty. This is classic fraud
in my oppinion waiting until a customer charges a hefty amount on their card
and then doubling their rates. I can only imagine how many people they do
this to. I need help and advice. |

Complaint: I have had a card with National City since 1993. I have paid this
card to zero countless times and I have never had a late payment or
over-the-limit charge. I had a very reasonable 9% on this card only to have
it jacked up to 20% a couple of months ago. Their explanation is it is
"index repricing" and that my credit is not an issue. I have great credit
and a great score. My husband and I made a large purchase on this card and
we are now wanting to move the balance. Our concern is if we have another
inquiry on our bureau will our other card jack their rate. Help.....this is
insane that the credit card issuers have been permitted to make up these
creative ways to screw consumers over. |

Complaint: After being a good customer with National City Bank, they have
ruined my credit and are suing me. I tried to make a payment online the day
before it was due and it didn't except my payment my account ended up with a
late fee and over limit fees I could not pay the huge payment they were
requesting . I tried to get on a program with them for months to pay them
back and was denied, they would not work with a credit counselor or debt
negotiating company I made every attempt to correct my account which was
really there mistake from the beginning. They have ruined my credit and
still continue to send me letters offering me a program that they denied me
even after they started litigation. I was treated dreadfully by their
customer service and managers and my character attacked. They are a
horrible bank and treat people awful. |

Complaint:
OK, so I had this home equity credit card that came with my mortgage. I
never used the thing, and they charged $50 per year "membership fee". Not
so bad, although I don't remember them telling me about that fee when I got
the mortgage. So I'm coming up on the third anniversary of the credit card
and I call them to ask about the procedure to cancel the card. I follow the
instructions (I need to fax in a letter, blah blah blah). But my next
statement for the card has a cancelation fee of $350 that they did not
mention on the phone. They said it was part of the original contract. I go
back and look, and yes, they are right, it is there - 36 month minimum term
on the card. The bummer is that I was within 2 weeks of the 36 month term,
and no one mentioned anything. I tried to dispute the charge, etc, but they
don't really acknowledge the complaint and continue to charge interest on
the $350. I'd be happy to reopen the card, pay another annual fee,
etc. Bottom line - very bad customer service, and it ends up as your fault,
not theirs. No flexibility from them at all. So now I am closing all my
accounts with NC. |
