OLD NAVY, GAP, BANANA REPUBLIC - all owned by same company - issue credit cards thru GE Consumer Finance....

My complaint - I never received the credit card nor a BILL.

To my surprise - I received a letter that I was turned over to a collection agency for something that was AT LEAST 18 Months old.

States in their disclaimer:  Billing is a Courtesy.

Because they think sending a bill is a courtesy and not a necessity - my credit is being screwed up.  I will never have a card issued by this company nor will I shop at these stores ever again.

Complaint: Offered a finance program with a pay on-line payment ability in August-did not become available until January.  By the time the bill arrives you have less than 16 days to pay.  The usual huge late fees and interest applied.  I only applied because of the ability to pay online and because it was pitched through Paypal (and I swore they said that you could use paypal funds to pay it-but know one seems to remember that part of the offer).  First time in six years I used credit (NO CARDS FOR SIX YEARS!-YEAH!), it was as crummy as I remembered.  Paid off and cancelled and will never get a card again.  Live on a cash basis-if I can do it, anyone can.  Oh and I will never by GE products again.

Complaint_against: GE Care Credit Card

Complaint: GE CCcard is used for medical, dental, vet charges. You can make charges and avoid finance charges by paying off the balance within the three month period. I paid them in full ahead of time in June to avoid the finance charge. Late June I get a bill for the remaining amount due plus finance charges and late fees. Not only that they immediately cut off my charge priviledges. I called them to correct the situation. Since then I have spoken with several different reps about once a week, mailed them sensitive information, faxed their supervisors more than four times and they still call me at home to "collect a bill". What is wrong with this company and the people who work there??  Everytime they call me I have to repeat the entire story in its entirety. NO ONE is getting the information that I provide and since then they have ruined my credit rating!!!  Who do I complain to? This is most frustrating!!!  I pay them in full and I am being treated like a criminal!  Thanks

Complaint: They Refuse to refund me any and all unjustly charged finance charges because they on their own put me on a 3 months no interest payment plan instead of the 12 month no interest plan I had signed for.  They never alerted me on paper of them starting finance charges after 3 months. Either way, during that time, I was deployed for the military and had my family back home paying my bills. My family sent a large payment putting my name and social on it because I knew it was due yet a payment stub had not been sent to my house. They cashed that check yet did not put it towards my account.  Next statement that I finally received had a late fee plus the minimum pymt I supposedly still owed from the last statement.  I called the toll free number numerous times yet neither customer rep was very helpful, they all acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and neglected to help me. At that moment I was forced to pay over the phone so I paid another $300 over the phone!
and they had the nerve to charge me a fee for paying over the phone regardless of their negligence. I sent in  a copy of the check they cashed which had my account number written in by them.  I didn't get the credit back on my account the next statement, so I called again where I got nowhere so asked to be transferred to the manager, they did so and all the woman could say was that it had been credited, which it hadn't and that we should send another copy of that check. I did send a certified copy of that check as well as a copy of the receipt with my signature on it that stated what payment plan I had signed for. Plus a letter stating all the stress they have put me through, I received the signed card that the certified mail was received by GE money bank yet no response nor a change in my bill from their staff.  I have since been calling time and time and lately all I've been getting is: "I'm sorry but we are expecting high call volumes at this time, please try again or vi!
sit our website." It then immediately hangs up on you.  I visit the website and all it has is the toll free number that I have try to contact numerous times during a 12-24hr period it says the same thing and hangs up on you.  What can I do, I need your help.

Signed up for a Gap card through GE Money Bank... Never received the card in the mail. 2 months later I receive a bill for  $300.  I called up and had the charges disputed and card closed.

2 years later I receive a call from a collection agency in india.  Can't understand a word they are saying.  Apparently it was never disputed, nor account closed.

I purchased a car and was told I would be put on a 6.9% and for 20,000 I thought it wasnt too bad. I was also told that I could make small settlements throughout my payments which I have found were totally incorrect. I have not recieved any statements or letters from GE money. When I made enquiried a year later to find out how much was left that I owed turned out I still hadnt paid the interested off which I find strange so I called them and found they were charging me 25% interested which really shocked me!!

I am really upset and they say they can not change this and now I am stuck paying an extra 10K for my car which I really cant afford and find disguisting!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? How I can resolve this please email me on above email. I look forward to hearing from you!!

Complaint:
I have a major problem with Ge Money Bank with my account and late fees. I am never late on anything and I have always had excellent credit. I had already talked with a customer service representative at one time and thought this was cleared up.
I even sent more money than I needed because at the time I did not know hat I owed before Old Navy started sending me all these late fees. his is the situation. Back on Oct 11, 2005 was my first due date of  $26.98.  They sent my bill to my old address.
I have not lived there since Aug 2003 and it is now Feb 2006. So I personally never received the bill. now live at a different location and have lived here since Aug 2003. They kept sending me these late bills afterwards up until this month to my old address so I never got them either. I am not sure how they finally figured out where I live but I have past paper work that shows that they
kept sending this to my old address. I sent them $40.00 dollars this last time which I should have only sent them $26.98 (for Oct 11, 2005 payment when this all started) but at the time did not know when this had all started and what my first bill was. Now I do
because I got Old Navy to send me a statement which proved that they sent it to my l d address until early this month. Now I just got a bill in the mail for $81.00 and I refuse to pay it. They keep sending me these late bills and I never knew that I had until
recently when it finally somehow made it to my new address. It is not my fault that the previous bills kept going to my old address and I never saw them. I haveexcellent credit and I don't appreciate this expense on my account.  I am very disappointed in Old Navy and Ge Money Bank and will never use them again unless this is cleared up.

I purchased a TV using GE Money Bank, never missed or late on one single payment. On the last payment however, it was late by 14 days, either because the mail mess up, or GE late in crediting to my account, or because of an earlier payment schedule change. They charged me $580.00 "deferred interest".
Do you have any suggestion how to fight this unfair practice? Thanks.

Complaint_against: Mervyn's / GE Money Bank

Complaint:
I have been dealing with my Mervyn's credit card (run by GE Money Bank) since March over fraudulent/false charges that occured in December -- two days after my birthday, on a Monday which I worked (up in the Seattle area) at a mall I've never been to in a city I've never visited in an adjacent state.

First of all, this company's customer service is clearly offshored (I've been offshored, so this is a sore spot) and have occasional difficulty understanding me. Their support reps are heavily scripted and put you on hold for long periods of time (I spend more time on hold than talking to the reps) and will never give you any useful information beyond account history and "I apologize for the inconvenience" and "You can call back to customer support in a few days". They will not give you any other number you can call.

I discovered the charges in March after collections called me. I had only used the card once, on the day I got it at a store up near me, and had paid off that balance to zero. I reviewed my statement history and found the details of the two charges. I filed a dispute and received a copy of the sales slip in the mail a week or two later. The signature was not only not mine, but clearly wasn't even my name. I stated this on the return paperwork, as well as confirming that the card has always been in my posession. A few weeks later I received a response letter with a terse statement a la "card was present and swiped at point of sale". Which is impossible. The letter went on to say that they'd closed the matter. Clearly no one had bothered to examine the sales slip and compare it either to my name or to the signature on my previous purchase. I called customer service to this effect.

Since then I have called customer service a number of times. Neither customer service nor whoever is in charge of dispute investigations has ever called me. Each call to customer service ends with "you can call us back in a few days". However, the collections department (also offshored) has called me repeatedly, lately with recording equipment running (I can hear the beep). Each time, I tell them that the matter has been disputed and that there should be no balance. Each time, they tell me they will look into it. At one point a collections rep tried to tell me that a thief would not make charges as small as the ones I was disputing. (I told him not only is that not true, but irrelevant.)

I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Utah (which is apparently the state in the US the GE Money Bank is incorporated) and have not yet got a response from the company. I am considering going to either my attorney general's office or that of Utah. In the most recent call to customer service I insisted that collections stop calling me. I have already frozen the account.

This is horrible customer service and extremely anti-customer treatment of a credit dispute. I would recommend no one do business with this credit company. However it is not always obvious with store credit cards who actually manages the accounts, so it is important to find out. I don't know if it's possible to find out all the stores whose store credit cards are served by GE Money Bank, but it would be a good list to have.

Complaint:
Beware of the anniversary date to pay off principal before deffered interest charges kick-in.  The anniversary date was 3 days after the billing cycle, and being one to pay immediately, I paid the minimum early and was unable to get online to GE Money to pay the balance prior to the anniversary date.  GE Money Bank web site was down on 3 occassions.  The time slipped by when the next cycle statement showed up with over $500 in deffered interest.  I immediately got on their web site and paid the balance.  Now it is me vs. their India agents.
Consumer beware.  GE doesn't care about you, your problems about attempted GE payments, and how many GE appliances, GE insurance policies, your paid visits to Universal Studios, and so forth.  You will be kept on the hook!!!

Complaint: So I scheduled some online payments for my credit card because I was going away for a trip to Europe.  I come home to receive a phone call from them.  They tell me i've missed payments for the last 2 months.  I tell them this is baloney and that I had scheduled it and that they screwed up.  The guy on the phone took my payment for the 2 months I missed, waived my late fees, and told me that it shouldn't affect my 0% apr promotion.  Next month, I get a bill with a 26% apr and a 409 dollar finance charge.  I call them and complain naturally.  They told me they would put me on hold to speak to a supervisor, but instead drop my call.  I called back and not only did I have to explain my entire story to them, but they lied to me yet again.  They told me that once I'm late, the promotion terminates and there is nothing I can do about it.  I told them that if the last person had told me that, I would have paid off the balance in its entirety and would not have left it sit!
ting there with a 26% finance rate. So they said "ok, there's nothing we can do about it now.  if you can pay off the balance by the your due date this month, we'll waive your finance fees."  I figured that was a fair settlement.  So I was ready to pay off my entire balance but had disposed of my last bill from them.  So I go online to print the remittance statement which had no account number on it.  I call them to ask for the account number but encountered the following problems: 1) they wouldn't give me my account number and 2) they told me whoever told me they would waive my finance fees lied to me so i had to pay off everything and there was nothing they can do about it.  I really hope these people's cars do cartwheels on the freeway.

Complaint: Received financing through Sears Home Improvement through GE Money Bank in April 2006.  Loan amount was 9,630.00 monthly payments 148.00 which none were applied to the principal for some unknown reason. On 8/7/06 sent the amount in full per my payment coupon which would have paid the account off.  GE stated no such payment received, 2 weeks later the check was returned to me with a letter from them stating more interest due.  In the meantime while this check was missing, I stopped payment and federal express another one on 9/4/06 signed for by GE on 9/5/06, On 9/7/06 guess what GE said they never received that one either.  Eventually I got the BBB involved and eventually got this loan paid off I think.  But GE has now reported a 30 day late on my credit due to their negligence.  This bank is regulated by Office of Thrift Supervision, 1700 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20552.  Please help me in exposing this fraudulent bank and having them shut down for good.

I borrowed on a deferred interest account to have some eye surgery.  Upon final payment there was an error with the EFT, and the company did not let me know until AFTER the promotional period had expired so they could sock me with nearly $800 in Finance Charges.
I ahve An E-mail stating that the payment was received along with a screenshot of their website indicating that they received my payment, but to no avail. Calls to them were unsuccessful. I paid the amount owed as soon as I found out about the problem, and asked if they would waive the finance charge, but they refused!!
I tried every which way to get them to relent. You can't speak to anyone with the authority to help, it is RIDICULOUS! I am SOOO Frustrated. Has anyone else ever heard of such a scam?  I'm hoping to fight this on my credit report, because I know this is where it will end up. Up until now, I have had absolutely crystal clear spotless credit.

Complaint:
In February 2005, I purchased a washer and dryer from an apppliance dealer in my town. According to the terms of the purchase on the GE Money Bank account I opened, I was to pay for 24 months with 0 percent interest. The $1060.05 cost was divided into 24 payments of $45 each. Because I did not want to be late with my payments, I set up an automatic payment from my bank of $45 to arrive before the due date.
In March 2006, GE Money Bank changed the due date to an earlier date and then charged me a late fee and 26.99 percent interest because my payment did not arrive by the new date. I have attempted to resolve the situation through telephone calls to customer service representatives at GE Money Bank without success. At one point I was put on hold for more than 20 minutes and then cut off. I think the action was deliberate.
Meanwhile, the late fees and finance charges have more than doubled the balance of my account. I have paid my $45 a month without fail and do not think I should be treated this way.
I previously had a similar experience with their parent company, GE Monogram Bank. I finally paid them $46 I did not owe in order to protect my credit rating. Nonetheless, they made an unfavorable report to the Credit Bureaus and refused my written request to remove the negative information.

Frank - Frank's supervisor Michael Messerli, John Aquero - Michael's supervisor all of who have no clue what customer service is.  I was never infomed that GE Money when puchasing a boat is a revolving account which is just like a credit card. Who in there right mind would purchase such a large ticket item on a credit card.  I made payments, thinking I was paying in advance. No only has GE Money called with threatening calls, but now has reported late payments to the credit bureau. I am now trying to get this resolved but it seems that GE Money would rather have a law suit on there hands then to reverse the payments and fix the credit reporting error.
GE Money has not fixed one item that I have listed above, and in my opinion there customer service and collection department needs to take a class in ethics.

I had a very similar BAD experience regarding a late fee for a Mervyns credit card thru GE that my wife has.
I pay my bills on-line and on-time and this was no exceptions.  Still, the next bill showed an erroneously late payment date and a late fee of $29 (on a $46.90 bill, mind you).  I went to my bank bill pay website to make sure it was processed properly before calling GE.  It was processed correctly.
After wading thru the voice response system, on-hold, talking to "Vijay" over a connection with a 3 second delay, and getting nowhere, I asked to talk to a supervisor.
Another 15 minutes on hold (I'm sure they do this knowing most people give up and just pay) and I finally speak to "Jane" x4268 - no last name - probably works with Tarzan.  She gives me the old "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do about it" even if I send in the printout from my bank.  I ask to speak to someone higher up and she says she's the top ... argh!!!!
I tell her I'm on the badcreditcards.org site and that I can see that this is pretty standard practice for them (from previous postings).  I tell her that I will be posting to this site, that she can come to the site tomorrow to see the complaint against her and her company, and that I will never get a card from any of the companies that they serve and will discourage all that I know not to.  Also, please cancel my card.
She says, "OK, is there anything else I can help you with today?".
Finally, I calm down and tell her that she seems like a nice person and that she should get a job for a reputable company.  She thanks me for the advice and wishes me a good day.
Arghhhhhhh.

Complaint:
Do not ever sign up for Banana Republic credit card, no matter what kind of disount they are dangling in your face.  While Banana Republic is a good store, the bank managing the credit card is amongst the most abusive and thieving in existance.  These losers entered my address incorrectly into their system when I called in an address change, when moving in 2001.  They continued to send statements to this nonsense address (they admited they knew that the bills were undeliverable and that this issue was due to their mistake).  After 50+ hours expended and two intentional overpayments to stop any possible continuing accrual of penalty interest, we "settled" the matter, they refunded money due to me and the matter was retracted from my credit record.  FOUR years later it was added back to my record as a charge-off of $373 (an amount which never appeared in any correspondence with the bank).  I am dealing with the same rep-cum-supervisor on this matter as in 2001-2002 (took from Sept 2001 to March 2002 to clear this up)and she is egaging the same abusive practices now.  I wrote to two divisions of this bank in Dec 2006 after talking on the phone and getting nowhere, and copied all of the 2001 paperwork including a copy !  of their refund check paid to me in 2001, sent return receipt, etc.  They sent back a letter stating, among other things that "they would assume I agree" with whatever updated notation they sent to the credit agencies if I did not contact them within 45 days.  In fact no update was made at all.  The rep sent an "update" letter to four agencies (I now have to dispute with all four) which stated the exact same status.  The letter also cites a "number above" to call if you want to talk to them.  Of course no number is actually listed.  In all of this they tell me they cannot locate my records (twice now)  How can it possibly be legal to assert a charge off (the charge off never actually ocurred, they sent it to collections and were paid the minute I knoew of the matter, over the phone, by credit card) records to back it up.  Stay away fro mGE MoneyBank!

Complaint: I had a similar experience -- 12 months no interest deal, always paid on time, scheduled the last final payment over a week before due, but due to bank error, it wasn't sent.  found out 3 days after it was due that something had happened to the payment, immediately made payment, talked to GE, they said to send in a letter from my bank.  I did, and they refused to reverse over $800 in finance charges.  have talked to an attorney and he is sending a letter to them.  if your terms and conditions include an arbitration clause, it may also required ge to pay any fees related to the arbitration.  You could always demand arbitration and also demand the GE pay the fees.  If they are willing to spend thousands of dollars in arbitration fees just to keep a few hundred dollars that they are trying their best to swindle out of responsible customers, then why not make them do it?

I had similar problems with GE Money Bank.  Failed posting of EFT over the internet, stolen check in the mail backed up with documentation, then reconciled by paying principle balance less deffered interest charges. Then came all those phone calls every three days after 8 am.  GE Money could care less.  They have no reason at all in their minds.  I took it upon my self to send a certified registered letter to the CEO of GE MONEY and whilst my letter was in his hands the phone calls kept coming.  Whereupon the CEO delegated his response to me to a subordinate consumer relations big wig and then cut in half the deffered interest charges and removed all late fees.  I figured this was as good as it was going to get....however I will never ever purchase another GE product in my lifetime and will dissuade anyone from doing the same.
By the way, the GE MONEY banner at the Austrailian Tennis Open was paid for all the those last fees and deffered interest charges by us.  GE Money profits were way UP for 2006!!!   YOUR WELCOME

Complaint_against: GE Money Bank- Dillards

Complaint: I got a credit card through Dillards, which was owned by GE Money Bank.  I had a baby about a year ago and just in the past few months, I'd gotten really behind on several things...one of which being this credit card.  So, I recv several "past due" notices from Dillards before it was turned over to GE Money Bank.  I recv numerous calls and letters.  I finally came into some money and so I called them (GE).  I owed somewhere around $1600+/- and called GE to see if they would do a settlement amount; so I wouldn't have to pay the full amount.  *Alot of credit card companies do settlements, so I didn't really think much of it.  They made an offer and it was still too high for me so I asked if they would settle for $1100 b/c that was all I had.  They put me on hold forever and when they came back to the line, they said "ok" but I had to pay for processing.  It came out to be $1139.40.  I was thrilled.  I asked them to send me something showing the transaction and that !
my account had been pd in full and settled.  It's been about 2 weeks or so and I recv a statement in the mail from Dillards saying I STILL OWE OVER $400 DOLLARS!!!!  I called GE Money Bank and they said "WE DON'T EVEN SHOW YOU IN OUR SYSTEM!"  What?!?!?!  I was so upset and then they put me on hold.....next thing I know they automatically transferred me to Dillards automated response system. I hate people who lie, cheat and steal.  GE MONEY BANK are FRAUDS!  They are a billion dollar company that's gotten rich by ripping people off!

Complaint: Originally I bought some furniture at interest free for one year.  The company I bought furniture from used GE Moneybank for the interest free one year loan which I paid back on a monthly basis.  The total deferred finance charge was approximately $700.00 if not paid back within the year.  The remaining balance left was approximately 1300 Dollars after a $5,000 dollar loan.  Inadvertently my payment of $1300 dollars was sent to Citibabnk Financial instead which would have paid the loan off.  Immediately I received the entire finance charge of $700 from GE Moneybank.  On two occasions I wrote to them with copies of my payment to Citibank intended for GE Moneybank of the $1300 payment which was sent well in advance of the due date to accept this as an error and sent them a check for the payoff amount.  They have not responded and there is no one to talk to  since there are no telephone numbers on the statements that I receive.   I am really angry at GE Moneybank for!
refusing even to talk to me.   I do not know if there is any other place to turn to but I hate this rip off.

Complaint_against: GE Money Bank - Care Credit

Complaint:
3/19/07
I have been battling with this company for a year and a half over a payment, made via money order (MO), that they applied to my account and then said it was returned "NSF".  It's a money order, not a check.  I contacted Western Union, where I purchased the MO, paid $12 to get a copy of it to send to the knot heads at GE Money Bank and all I get are form letters saying they are looking into it and will get back to me.  I have 2 of those and no one ever gets back to me.  In the meantime they not only put the $100 back on my account, they put it on there again, charged my a $29 return fee and not to mention all of the finances charges and the late fee on top of it.  I have called their customer service department more times than I care to mention and get the same response each time.  I have repeated the same story numerous times to people that can't do thing for you.  However the form letters they send direct you to these call centers.  You can't get to any other department un!
less you write a letter and then the response is a form letter.  I'm ready to scream.  My plan is to call a local consumer advocate group here in Phoenix to see what they can do before I contact an attorney.
If it seems like I'm rambling it's because I spent 10 minutes on hold with them tonight but that was only after I called the first time and was hung up on.  The second time I finally hung up which is what they were hoping.
I wish I had never heard of this company.

Complaint_against: GE MONEY BANK - GAP CARD

Complaint:
GE Bank OWES me money -- but refused to give it back!
I signed up for a GAP card which was issued through GE Money Bank.  They were offering a 10% discount on first purchases with the card, so I did it.  I made a purchase of 3 itmes.  Two days later, I returned 1 of the 3 items (b/c it didn't fit that well).  Later in the Month, I received a bill for the purchase of the 3 items (my refund somehow didn't show up as a credit or at all).  I made the full payment for the 3 items, the total bill in full.  My second statement showed a credit for that item I had returned.  So now, my account had a credit due me of $41.57.
I decided I didn't want the card, so I wrote them to close my account and return my $41.57 that I had overpaid.  I sent them proof of my everything: my credit due me, my overpayment, etc.  A month later, I get a letter from them saying my account is now closed and the balance is zero.
I been calling and writing them -- but all I get is the run-around. I am deeply disappointed that GE Money Bank engages in such fraud!  I am thinking about contacting some lawyers to see if a class action can be brought against this company for their fraudulent activites.  After reading this website and others, I realize now that GE Money Bank is a SCAM!

Complaint:
I had an acct payment due on 3/26/07 - which I missed and was duly charged a $30 late fee.On 4/1/07 a new statement was generated with that $30 late fee on it.  This new statement stated there was a payment of $15 due by 4/26/07.  On that same day (04/01/07) I made a payment of $50 to the acct. - this was above the $15 due by 4/26 as stated on that statement.  I had marked it down that I had paid this statement for April.  However, on 4/26 I was again charged a late fee. After being contacted that my account was (unknowingly by me) in default, I argued the fact that I had paid prior to the 4/26/07 date (on 4/1/07, I paid $50).  The return argument was that this payment did not count - that I paid it too early.  I argued that if I were to continue paying on the 1st of each month, under this billing process, I would continually be charged late fees.  No valid argument could be given back.Lucky for me, I am able to pay off the credit card and I have closed it - GE Money (and any co that utilizes them for their store cards) will no longer have me as a credit customer.

Complaint: I used GE Money Bank for a $4000 dental bill.  It said one year interest free.  Each month I paid 2,3,4 or 5 times the "minimum" asked for.  At the end of one year there was $800 left.  I sent in a check for $800 plus a months interest at 26% and marked "for payment in full" on the check.  They cashed it and sent me a bill for over $800 in interest on the entire $4000.  Aren't there usury laws in this country?  Now, because I've refused to pay them (and they've called over 75 times) they have destroyed my stellar credit.  I'm always early on my bills and now I can't get credit at all.  Is there anyway I can sucessfully fight these jerks?

Complaint_against: G.E. Money Bank

Complaint:
I purchased front and rear brakes through Precision Tune Auto Care and they encouraged me to use G.E. Money Bank to finance the purchase.  This is what I discovered about this horrendous company.  G.E. Money Bank knowingly deceives customers by the following:  1.  Fraudulently advertising a Promotional Financing Credit Card through advertising "no interest or financing fees if balance completely paid off in 90 days."  2.  Fraudulently charging customers financing fees, interest and late charges for amounts that were advertised as non-existent.  3.  Fraudulently charging customers financing fees for late payments which were sent via Express Mail and received three days in advance of due date, which G.E. Money Bank failed to pick-up, accept or sign for said delivery until after the due date and, in fact, posted the payment to customer's account two days after the billing cutoff date.
I have contacted G.E. Money Bank and received two form letters:  one dated April 1, 2007 stating "we are looking into the matter" and one dated May 23, 2007 stating "we are looking into the matter."  While G.E. Money Bank is "looking into the matter," they continue to add financing charges, interest and late payment fees onto a bill that has been paid in full within the 90-day time limit stated in its "Promotional Financing Charge."  No further communication has been received from G.E. Money Bank.
The United States Postal Service advised me to track my Express Mail payment to G.E. Money Bank which I did several times a day from May 25, 2007 until May 30, 2007.  The package which was present in G.E. Money Bank's post office box on Saturday, May 26, was not picked up by G.E. Money Bank until May 30 and the payment was not posted to customer's account until May 31, 2007, after the payment due date, thereby incurring more fees and penalties.
Hopefully very soon there will be a class action complaint filed against G.E. Money Bank and they will be justly punished for the pain they have inflicted on others!

Complaint_against: GE Money/ Banana Republic

Complaint:
NEVER agree to get a Banana Republic 'credit card' where they give you the 15% discount if you sign up.  For 6 months I've been dealing with them and their lovely credit card company - GE Money! They employ monkeys from India - I swear. No, wait I think Monkeys would have figured out the problem a lot faster than these idiots at GE National.
I returned an item to Banana Republic (BR) back in January and for some reason it never got credited to my BR credit card.  So, since January they have been billing me for an item I don't have.  I've never used the BR credit card since, but yet - surprisingly the payment price goes up: interest, late fees, you name it.
I've been calling them, filling out forms, sending in copies of the credit receipt and still they keep saying I owe money.  I talked to a "manager" at GE Money named Nicole last night - 7/9/07 while in the BR store where I had returned the item. I was in tears trying to tell the store manager to call the credit card company and tell them to quit harassing me.  They were calling my cell phone and leaving messages that I owed $90!
Nicole (manager at GE) informed me they couldn't do anything about it, even though I'm at the store with the credit slip in my hand.  Her pathetic reason: I've waited 6 months to take care of it.  I told her in no uncertain terms I've been trying to take care of it for the past 6 months.  She coped an attitude with me like the whole thing was my fault and was talking above me while I was trying to tell her the problem.  Her attitude was more like the disgruntled ex lover on a Morrie Povich show.  I thought we were going to go head to head over the phone.  I've never been treated so poorly by a company that clearly is in the wrong.

Complaint_against: GE Consumer Credit

Complaint:
Description:  I applied for a Care Credit credit card approx 4 years ago and use the card only for my sons...     (More) I applied for a Care Credit credit card approx 4 years ago and use the card only for my sons dentist and ortho bills. In 2006, I asked for an increase in credit limit to allow for my sons braces and it was granted.
In Dec. 2006, I found that every time I made a payment of $78.00, my balance was going up, not down. I called Care Credit very upset about this, and no one could help me, nor understand me, nor could I understand them. I stated stated that I was considering closing my account.
A few months later, when calling in for another reason, I found that my account had been closed per my request. I never requested this, however because the representative, who can not speak nor understand English, decided that this is what I wanted, this is what happened. I told Care Credit that I did not request this, and they have told me, as they have everytime I have called them for any reason, that there is nothing they can do.
On July 9, 2007, I called Care Credit because I found once again, that I am paying $120 per month and my balance continues to go up. It seems that they tacked on a deferred interest amount that brought my card over the limit and they are charging me $29.00 in over the limit fees. So for each $120.00 payment I make, the balance goes up by $15.00. As you can see, these amounts will get larger as time goes by because it adds to my balance and I am getting charged interest on interest. I asked to speak to a supervisor on this call as well, and was told I could not. No one was available. I was then told that some one would call me.....no one did.
I called back on July 9 to pay off my card with a credit card that I wanted to transfer that balance to so that it would not be a financial hardship on me. I was told by Care Credit that they could not do this because it had to be from my checking account. My guess is because they want to make it as hard as possible to get out from under the card because they are gouging their customers and this is the way they make their money...so why would they make it easy for you to pay off the card!!
On July 11th, I called and spoke to a supervisor named Natasha. I was told that she was sorry, there was nothing she could do. I explained to her that I did not request this account be closed, and she stated she was sorry, but it says I requested it. I explained that I did not request this, and she stated I could re-apply. I would not have a problem with the account being closed if it did not impact my credit score. However, it does. I don't feel that a representative from India who can't speak our language should have the power to affect my credit score because he thinks I said something that I did not say, but because he typed it into the system, it is what stands.
I do not feel that Care Credit / GE Money treat their customers fairly. I don't believe they should be able to impact my credit score based on what a representative THOUGHT I said, or decided possibly that because I was upset and threatened to close my account that they could take it upon themselves to just do so. This was not my wish and was not my intent at the time. Only a thought.  I do not believe that they should be allowed to deny payments of any kind.  They need to give better customer service.

Complaint_against: OLD NAVY/ GE MONEY BANK

Complaint:  I opened an account with old navy and charges a small amount. When I got the bill I paid the full amount. After 5 months, Old NAvy is calling me for a bill and it shocked me when they told me the amount.  The amount were all late fees.  I was screaming at the lady why they didn't send me a bill 5 months ago if the payment was late and just collecting it now. She said that they're sending the bill in a wrong address. Wrong address????How come i received my first bill and the most stupid thing is the lady verified the address and she gave me my correct address.  There's no a doubt that this company is doing some scams about late charges.  I am filing a complaint to BBB.  I have a good credit and don't wanna ruin it by this company.

Complaint_against: GAP, GE Moneybank, all of the credit collection agencies they use

Complaint:
Like most of the other people who have posted on this site, I am livid. I, too, am a victim of these companies' fraudulent billing procedures. On several occasions (once I realized that their policy is not to send you a bill--you have to call them) GAP sent me bills for outrageous overdue charges when they hadn't sent me bills for the initial amount. A couple of times the due date printed on the invoice was up to A WEEK AND A HALF BEFORE the postmark on the envelope. It's obvious that they are deliberately trying to fraudulently get more money out of their customer base (who, I can only assume, are generally people under 30 or so, with little experience managing credit and who are willing, when they receive a scary credit collection notification to pay right away.)
But that's not the worst of it. I called and spoke to a representative in December 2005 and made sure with her that my balance was ZERO and that I would incur NO CHARGES while I was in Europe for a year. She assured me that I would not, and that my balance was paid in full. More than eight months later, after NO ATTEMPT FROM GAP to contact me directly, my stateside former roommate received a notification from a collection agency that I owed the GAP $137.62. I called, and the representative told me that the charges were $136.00 in late fees for an initial charge of $1.62. And, get this--the $1.62 was a FRAUDULENTLY MADE FINANCE CHARGE ON A $0.00 BALANCE! I have been trying to resolve this for the last year and a half, and in the mean time, GAP has switched collection agencies on me without notifying me AND using outdated contact information.
It's hard to contest charges like this from Europe (the time zones don't allow much leeway for calling, and it's expensive when they reroute you to a customer service center in India and put you on hold for an hour and 45 minutes!). But this website is very helpful in making my case against this charge--it's a great resource, and I TRULY HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL READ THESE SUBMISSIONS AND BE WARNED AGAINST EVER GETTING A CREDIT CARD FROM THIS COMPANY!

Complaint:
Recently my bank pulled all my credit cards.  I checked through a credit report agency on line who had a bad credit report from GE/GAP card. I have never signed up for a Gap Card, nor have I received a card in the mail or a bill.  I called their customer service, but they could offer me no information about the complaint...  They said they had no record of my social security number.   He told me to mail by post my complaint to the offine in Texas.  I did this and after a month they sent me a form letter saying they could not help me without more information, namely the account number.   But of course I don't have knowledge of an account number.  I 've never even received a CARD or a BILL!   I DONT EVEN SHOP AT THE GAP!  If they reported me to a credit agency, why don't they have any information on me in the data banks?  The credit reporting agency cannot give me anymore information either.
What is going on?  Is there no law to protect people from this kind of abuse? I depend on my credit cards for my security and livelihood.

I just got off the phone with one of the JERKS in Paypal's/GE Money Credit customer service department. When calling I had no intention of closing my account, however, after talking to the guy on the phone and how rude he was, I closed it immediately. I can't believe they have people working for them like this. I have had an account with them for quite some time and have always made my payments on time. I thought when I was making my payments I was actually making one ahead, but for some reason, they were doubling reflecting on the same billing cycle. I wanted to see if there was something we could do to work this out, (I.e credit late fee) since in good faith I thought I was making my payment not only on time, but ahead of the game. The guy on the phone was rude and not willing to work with me. I don't have to take this from someone like that! There are plenty of credit card companies I am sure that would want to have my business. Complaint_against: GE Money Bank -- Unethical Practices

Complaint:
Does anyone know of an agency or attorney who we may contact regarding stopping GE Money Bank's UNETHICAL practices??
We took credit from GE Money Bank on a flooring purchase we made in Nov 2005.  This came with ONE year pay-without-interest promotion.  The first SEVEN statements from GE came with a Promo Due Date of 11/29/06.  However, without FORMAL notice, GE changed the Due date to Nov 2, 2006 few mos. before November.  This took us for a surprise since we had scheduled/budgeted for payment to come out of our cking acct by Nov 15th or so, and rushed to make a deposit on Nov 3th (Friday) in our checking account to allow for this payment.  This when we realized ab/ "date due" change, as we were preparing to schedule online pmt. And were spoking with GE rep. who stated due date was Nov 2nd.  She also said: "it is OK to schedule pmt today for GE allows 3 days grace period.. As it is, it will take the system 3 days or so to clear pmt thr bank..".  NOT TRUE! Payment was scheduled at around 4pm EST via GE Money's site and was presented to our bank on the morning of 11/6/6.
On Wed 11/8 we noted that our bank had charged a 29.00 NSF on 11/6.  We called and were told that GE had presented ck and "funds were not cleared yet"-(This was a large deposit we had previously made).--Unfortunately, our bank's representativeS had previously acknowledged funds were available by the 6th;  (They failed to advice that deposits actually get "processed" at 1200 midnight-In this case, our deposit would be credited on the 7th-eventhough on 11/6, their computers displayed "deposit processing" and bank reps (2 of them) assumed the funds were AVAILABLE as of the 6th.
Our bank was good in recognizing their misrepresentation, and credited back the 29.00 nsf fee charged, and told us not to worry about GE's deposit; they added  ".. since GE presented payment ONLY once, and companies normally would present it TWICE, we expect chk to come back again today or tomorrow.".  We waited 'till the 10th (and contacted GE several times to find status on transaction, to no avail).
GE reps & managers said they were charging us late fee (29.00) AND accrued interest of 1,046.99!!; (bear in mind the original credit taken was for 3,607.99); GE's reps argued that ONLY the reason their system had charged for the NSF and marked the account as "non-payment" was b/c their system showed payment was presented TWICE.
When we proved (via W bank's activity reports and bank officer's letter), they inmediately said: "Oh well, we do NOT have to present pmt twice, and they hung-up the phone.  Mind you, they keep doing this and get very defensive and nasty.
We had tried to talk SEVERAL TIMES with GE's reps as well as "managers", and ALL, English & Spanish-speeking personnel, have been rude, have lied (telling us that they had no record of ever receiving correspondence from us-- bear in mind, correspondence had been in the form of Fax as well as registered mail); and even though we told them, we received letter from GE acknowledging receipt of our correspondence & crediting back the 29.00 fee charged, nothing was said about the 1,046.99, except, we owe this amount.
Our latest correspondence to GE was regarding the change of due date. No response.  We, in good faith, have kept making the min. pmt charged on the balance, which is basically the interest being charged (23.99%), while we are trying to resolve this matter.
Should we continue payments? or drop it and wait to contact reporting agencies.?
GE Money Bank's practices are NOT fair nor ethical!  I can only pray they are stopped from continuing all these unfair practices against the individuals, and hopefully they will go out of business.

Complaint_against: GE Money Bank

Complaint: I'll start with a story mid-way. GE Money Bank sent me a letter saying that, as a courtesy my bad record (overdue payment) would be removed. And it would be reflected on my credit report. Two weeks later I checked my credit report and found that it hadn't changed. I called. The lady told me something like this: "OK, I can do that for you right now. The next time you log on you will see it no more." I checked it immediately and found no change. Two days later I checked my credit report and it's still there. I complained. Then I received a call. A lady told me that a change in the credit report takes time, which I understand. But then she said that the record that could be changed immediately in my previous phone call probably was just that at GE Money Bank, not at the credit bureau. While this solved my primary concern, I was baffled by the idea that the record at GE Money Bank had not been changed after the bank sent me a letter two weeks ago saying that all recor!
ds were cleaned. I raised this question but the lady never answered directly. What kind of banking service this is? From now on I would avoid any credit card that has GE Money Bank behind it. It sucks!

Once a customer service representative has said that a check has been mailed however, if asked about the check information he can't provide any.
